The Center for Theoretical and Experimental Social Sciences (CTESS) is an interdisciplinary research center engaged in cutting-edge work that combines methods from economic theory, decision theory, experimental economics, game theory, and political science. Under the aegis of The Ronald and Maxine Linde Institute of Economic and Management Sciences, CTESS continues and expands upon the tradition of high-quality theoretical and experimental social science research at Caltech. CTESS supports early-stage ventures in theory and in experiments that develop new methodologies for the social sciences and improve our understanding of human behavior and social institutions. CTESS scholars place a critical emphasis on a close connection between theory and experiments, which has always been the hallmark of the Caltech approach to the social sciences.
